The Meaning of "Lok Kru"

In Cambodia, "Lok Kru" is a traditional title of respect used when addressing a teacher or master. Within Kun Khmer, the title carries special significance. It recognizes those who have earned respect through their knowledge, experience, leadership, and dedication to passing the martial art from one generation to the next.

For Nuon Bora, the title reflects a lifetime dedicated to Kun Khmer. First as a fighter, and today as a master coach and mentor.

A Life in Kun Khmer

Master Coach Nuon Bora competed during an important generation of Cambodian Kun Khmer and shared the ring with some of the leading fighters of his era.

Among his notable opponents was respected Cambodian fighter San Sao Yan. Their memorable competition became part of Cambodia's modern Kun Khmer history.

Nuon Bora's influence also extended to the generation of fighters who followed him. Cambodian champion Vorn Viva has been reported as being inspired to pursue fighting after watching a memorable final between Nuon Bora and San Sao Yan.

Following his competitive career, Lok Kru Nuon Bora dedicated himself to coaching, mentoring, and developing the next generation of Kun Khmer athletes.

From Elite Fighter to National Team Coach

The experience gained through years of competition gives Master Coach Nuon Bora an understanding of Kun Khmer that goes far beyond technique.

His instruction combines traditional Kun Khmer with decades of practical fighting and coaching experience, including striking, kicks, elbows, knees, clinch work, defense, conditioning, ringcraft, and fight strategy.

Today, as a Kun Khmer National Team Coach and Kun Khmer Federation Master Coach, he works with high-level Cambodian and international athletes and helps prepare fighters for national and international competition.
