Cambodia's own striking art, from your first class to your first fight. Teens and adults from age 12. No experience needed.
The Beginners & Intermediate Kun Khmer program is where every student starts. It is open to teens and adults from age 12, whether you have never thrown a punch or you already have a few years of Muay Thai or kickboxing behind you. Classes build a complete foundation: stance, guard and footwork first, then all four weapons, fists, kicks, knees and elbows, and finally the clinch and traditional throws.
The training is headed by Lok Kru Nuon Bora, Kun Khmer National Team Coach and Kun Khmer Federation Master Coach. Classes are small, so the coaches watch your technique and correct it, and every student is pushed at their own pace.
Students follow the official Kun Khmer Federation Krama path, nine levels from White Krama to Black Krama, about 216 classes in all. Each level has a minimum number of classes and a practical grading, so you always know what you are working toward. Partner drills and controlled sparring come in step by step as your technique allows, and the focus is always on correct technique, never on hurting your training partner.
Every class also carries the culture behind the art: the ceremony, history and respect of Kun Khmer, Cambodia's national martial art.
Please note: this class requires gloves, hand wraps and a mouthguard. Gloves and hand wraps are on sale at the Pro Shop inside the academy. Only Kun Khmer Federation and Kombat Academy uniforms and equipment are allowed on the mats.
